Shauna Eats Sunnyside

Anyone else curious about this truck?? La Troca Del Sabor is in fact a little old lady stirring deep pots of variously meated stews on a four-burner stove in the back of this converted delivery van. The truck’s always parked on the Woodside corner of 47th Ave. and 46th St. — we wonder how she managed to snag (and retain) that postal street address emblazoned on the driver’s side of her whip! La Troca seems to have a loyal local following on that side of the Boulevard, and its pastel green and blue stripes stand out against the dull monotony of brick apartment buildings.

Señora serves CEVICHE on Saturdays! B says I’m nuts, but I’m dying with anticipation for the weekend when I’m bold enough and hungry enough to nosh on citrus-marinated fishies from the back of a truck in Woodside. Every other day, the menu consists of one-to-three homecooked “EcuaMex” entrees. Pay no attention to the dry erase board on the side of the van by the ordering window — it’s never updated. Just ask mama what she’s brewing…

Looks like meals are somewhere in the $5-$7 range. No idea what that includes — I’d guess rice. Maybe beans.
